Calling all movers and shakers! Set yourself and friends a movement and fundraising challenge. Nearly all of us know, or have known, someone with dementia. Let’s show them we care by taking part in Move for Dementia.
It could be anything, from aerobics to zip-lining!

Captain Tom Moore became a national hero in Britain after raising more than for £30 million for charity. Sir Tom completed 100 laps of his garden for his first fundraising challenge.
Sisa and her whānau took on Move for Dementia in honour of their Dad, Poa, a talented cricketer and musician now living in aged care. “This challenge brings us together to support Dad and others living with dementia mate wareware—just 30 minutes a day, whether it’s a walk, a dance, or something active.”
After their mum, Jane, was diagnosed, Theresa pledged to move for 30 minutes daily and invited others to join a walk around Aotea Lagoon. Their efforts raised more than $6000, bringing people together and breaking the stigma around dementia. “We needed a village, and people responded so well,” says Theresa.
At 70, Alister Robertson is racing 160km around Lake Taupō for the 10th time, raising awareness for dementia mate wareware. Diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s at 60, Alister shows that dementia doesn’t stop him from living life to the fullest. His efforts highlight the need for support and raise funds for Alzheimers New Zealand.
Around 70,000 Kiwis are living with dementia today and that's expected to almost triple to 170,000 by 2050. Almost all of us know or have known someone with dementia.
