Calling all movers and shakers! Set yourself and friends a movement and fundraising challenge. Nearly all of us know, or have known, someone with dementia. Let’s show them we care by taking part in Move for Dementia.
It could be anything, from aerobics to zip-lining!

Captain Tom Moore became a national hero in Britain after raising more than for £30 million for charity. Sir Tom completed 100 laps of his garden for his first fundraising challenge.
Alister is living with dementia and decided to cycle every day for a month for his challenge: “As someone who is still very active, I would like this September to be a time when we challenge some long-held stereotypes about people with dementia.”
Lauren took on the Auckland Marathon in memory of her grandad. She found running really helped her with her healing journey after he passed away, “and to realise that life doesn't end when dementia begins, grandad still lives on with every stride I take, running every step of the way with me.”
Residents at the Wimbledon Villa in Fielding completed 100 laps of the villa for their Move for Dementia challenge, and even dressed up in purple for the occasion! "We had a blast doing our challenge and even had family joining in!"
Around 70,000 Kiwis are living with dementia today and that's expected to almost triple to 170,000 by 2050. Almost all of us know or have known someone with dementia.
