Let’s move!

Move and fundraise for dementia. That’s what we’re asking everyone to do in September for World Alzheimers Month.

Movers and shakers

Move 30 minutes a day

Sisa and her whānau took on Move for Dementia in honour of their Dad, Poa, a talented cricketer and musician now living in aged care. “This challenge brings us together to support Dad and others living with dementia mate wareware—just 30 minutes a day, whether it’s a walk, a dance, or something active.”

Walk together

After their mum, Jane, was diagnosed, Theresa pledged to move for 30 minutes daily and invited others to join a walk around Aotea Lagoon. Their efforts raised more than $6000, bringing people together and breaking the stigma around dementia. “We needed a village, and people responded so well,” says Theresa.

Cycling for dementia

At 70, Alister Robertson is racing 160km around Lake Taupō for the 10th time, raising awareness for dementia mate wareware. Diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s at 60, Alister shows that dementia doesn’t stop him from living life to the fullest. His efforts highlight the need for support and raise funds for Alzheimers New Zealand.

Your donations will make a difference

Around 70,000 Kiwis are living with dementia today and that's expected to almost triple to 170,000 by 2050. Almost all of us know or have known someone with dementia.

Your donations will be used nationally and locally to help us provide vital services and support to people living with dementia today.
